What is civil law and why is it important to us?

Civil law covers the most important areas of everyone's life - all kinds of human activities as well as private matters - from the shopping we do in the supermarket to the division of parental responsibility for children or the death of a loved one. Each civil law case requires the efficient and professional services of a lawyer with many years of experience. A lawyer who deals with this branch of law must be proficient in it, have the ability to think analytically and be able to see even the smallest aspects of a given case, as any mistake may result in negative consequences for the represented client. What is the best law firm? What should you pay attention to when choosing it? Where to look for good legal assistance and, finally, which issues are covered by civil law? We suggest.

CIVIL LAW - DEFINITION

Civil law is a legal system comprising norms regulating property relations and related non-material matters as well as personal relations between legal and natural persons or other types of entities. The most important principle of civil law is the equality of subjects and their full autonomy. All the norms of this branch of law set general boundaries through which legal relations are arranged that take into account the principles of general interest.

The most common cases that are the subject of civil law proceedings concern: damages, compensation, legal capacity, defects in declarations of intent, property rights, obligations (for example, a contract for the sale of a car or a flat), questions of interest, deposits, advances, donations or leases of real estate, mortgages, civil status deeds or civil partnership contracts.... i.e. all those areas of life that are relevant on a daily basis in everyone's life.

DIVISION OF CIVIL LAW

Civil law comprises the following sections:

general part - issues common to the whole of this branch of law, i.e. provisions concerning legal persons, natural persons, domicile, recognition of a person as dead, property, legal transactions, deposits, advances or terms of contracts;
property law - the exercise of ownership, its acquisition, loss and protection, usufruct, pledge of movable property or possession and easements;
obligations - contain rules of property law. They also deal with matters of debtors and creditors, contractual patterns, unjust enrichment, compensation, damages, consumer protection, interest and contracts: sale, work, lease, rent, loan, bank account, transport, donation, annuity, settlement, etc;
succession law - covers the rules on the transfer of property rights of the deceased to other legal entities, legal succession or issues of wills and reserved shares;
family law, which governs all relations within the family: marriage, rights and duties of spouses, divorce, paternity, adoption or maintenance.

LAW FIRM - CIVIL MATTERS AND LEGAL ADVICE

Whether you are looking for legal assistance when it comes to criminal or civil law, you should choose your lawyer with due diligence. Losing civil law cases is capable of causing irreparable damage. When looking for a solicitor to conduct proceedings, or even if you want to seek specific advice in this area, try to do detailed research beforehand. A check of reviews on the Internet, a careful look at the website or even a preliminary interview can make it much easier for you to choose a lawyer who will look after your interests as if they were his own and - as far as possible - will do everything to help you win your case. However, price should absolutely not be the most important determinant of your choice - knowledge, brilliance of mind, logical analysis of the facts or many years of experience are what you should focus on above all.
